Quarella - The World Leader of Composite Stone
63Is Quarella the world leader in composite stone? For those who deal with this niche market know that Quarella is from far the biggest, as Quarella has both marble and quartz production plants. (Or better, quarella has both block and slab production plants). Besides Quarella also owns and operates Rover (Italy) and Prestige (Spain), so if you add up marble based material, the quartz based material and the granite based material, we end up with the biggest producer of composite stone.
Quarella's main headquarters are close to Verona, in the northern part of Italy. They have several plants in Italy, and one production facility in Spain. They've been in the composite stone market for over 40 years and have one of the most sophisticated and advanced R&D departments of the industry.
Their technology base is Breton like most of the industry, although they have, due to the effective effort of their R&D department improved this technology and know-how.
The Quarella group is the only company in the engineered stone niche that has it's own resin producing plant, being resin one of the main cost in producing engineered stone, they've also gained important know-how in that area.
In the last 2 years, as everyone, they have felt the crisis, they have reduced production significantly, especially in the block plants. Although a crisis are seen as an opportunity to improve, and Quarella did just that, the old marble block plants have lost most of its market share and Quarella has presented to the market a new innovative product, the Evo. So basically they use the block equipment to make a product comparable to quartz (which is produced in the slab production plants). What does this mean to the industry? It's by far the biggest innovation regarding the block fabrication process and will open new markets, so for those who probably have seen the end to block production plants, it may just be the next trend in this industry.
