Arts and Crafts: Stone Craft
62Stone Craft for Fathers Day gift
How to do a very simple and easy fathers day gift? I must say our imagination is limitless when we view the possibilities, but today we'll focus on a paper weight for dad.
To start off you'll need a few things, namely:
- a rock: try to find a nice rounded edge, it's difficult to find in nature, maybe beside a river, at your local garden centre you may find a nice tumbled flat granite stone like the one in the picture ... or if you really look around you may find other marble stones which you may find in several colours, red, white, yellow, green, pink, beige, etc.
- paintbrush: to spread the glue you'll need one
- white craft glue: when the glue dries up it becomes transparent, so spread evenly the glue
- cut out pictures from magazines or printed napkins: now the creativity begins, for dad you can get his favorite team logo, or anything that he likes .... and just glue it on the stone ... after cover the picture with a thin cover of glue ... it'll give the picture a glossy effect.
So just to resume, you pick out a nice rock, clean it, make sure it has no dirt or dust. Look around for some nice pictures from magazines or printed napkins ... If you try to get pictures from the Internet, be careful if you have a inkjet printer the water in the glue may just destroy your whole craft.
Good luck and have fun doing some very cool crafts.

This is a time-less idea! I did this for my dad about 40 years ago. He kept it in his desk until he retired and then it held an honored spot on his dresser. When he passed away, I gave it to my husband who now has it on his desk. It makes me smile everytime I see it!
