This is and much more is ITC, the International Teletraffic Congress. So what is ITC exactly and how do we all benefit from it?

What is ITC?

ITC stands for International Teletraffic Congress, it was founded in 1955, basically it's an International forum, which meets twice a year and gathers the world leading engineers, research organizations, universities, manufacturers, network operators, basically all the stakeholders in the teletraffic industry.

The International Teletraffic Congress is based in Berlin Germany, and currently is rules by the International Advisory Council (AIC) during the meetings they gather as said all stakeholders and active players in the teletraffic industry, looking for key cooperation within the group and also setting standards for the industry itself.

The International Advisory Council has among it's tasks:

• Select the location for the Plenary Congress
• Ensure that the programme has a high level technical base
• Support Seminars on current issues of interest
• Promote worldwide seminars on teletraffic concepts in order to disseminate these concepts in developing countries
• An active member in the standardization process, dealing directly and cooperatively with the International Telecomunications Union.

When ITC was first founded their meeting where held tri-annually, but as of 1995 and due to the increase in technological development they have become bi-annual.Truth as we all remember is that the last two decades have been very rich in teletraffic, the evolution from the 80s where cellular phones didn't exist on a massive scale, until today where everyone has at least one cellular phone, and most even use Internet wireless connections and other means simultaneously.

The past evolution is far from slowing down, year after year, the communication industry is growing and we can't see it slowing down in the near future. More gadgets and innovative products that use and network with other communication sources.

The International Teletraffic Congress today more than ever plays an important part in the communication technology, participating actively with all stake holders help make communications easier and more effective.
