Become a travian

Travian is an on-line tribal game. It's a browser based game, where you join a Travian World and become the leader of a small village. You manage resources, troops, people, etc . You build up villages, create troops, fight battles, trade with neighbours, join alliances, and much more.

At www.travian.com you'll find server for tha .com version of the game, you'll also find links to dozens of country links. So if your french, you'll have a www.tranvian.fr etc.

In my opinion, the most revealing experience while playing travian is meeting people on-line, and have an entertaining event where everyone can participate and team play.

Choose wisely your tribe, at the beginning of the game the best tribe to start with is the Teutons or Gaules, they evolve quicker than the romans. However the roman military is much stronger than the rest, so in the long run you'll be better off with the roman tribe. But that's just theory.

It's obvious that not everything is good in the travian game, as always I will be honest with you. Almost everyone has a second account, and some players even manage more than two accounts. This is the generalised notion that I have from playing on several servers.

All you need to register is an e-mail, they say one account per person, but if you have two e-mails it's possible that you can get two travian accounts. The game webmasters say they control ip entries in the game, however I figure their is at least a dozen high tech ways to get through that problem. But a very simple way to get by this, if you have two accounts you can be sitter for one of them, therefore you can play simultaneously on both entries without faulting the rules.

So two accounts, it may come in handy at the beginning of the game, however be careful with the resource transfer it may be detected. How to bypass this? Well, you can do unfavorable exchange between your two villages ... What does this mean? You have your main village buying resources with and unfavorable trade ratio buy 2 sell 1, the other account buys ... however if the distance between both villages are far from each other, this may not be too efficient. And don't forget the Teutons tribe have better merchants than the rest of the tribes.

The two account strategy is sometimes used for spying on other alliances, unfortunately it's a war game and everything works to get to the goals. I've seen a lot of spying, and normally it works this way: the enemy opens two accounts, one for himself to explore the other he works his way into the alliance he wants to spy on, keeps working on the account and even becomes sitter of other players. He is an insider, he knows all about the strategy ... he gives out information to his team mates ....

The two accounts strategy is easy to manage at the beginning of the game when you start of with one village, but as you grow, it gets harder to manage an will occupy most of your time, image a normal situation later in the game, you'll have 13-15 villages on each account that's 30 in total, believe me that's tough work to manage. So you'll end up managing one account and letting go the second one, unless you find time to manage both.

One important thing you should remember, always start your travian game at the beginning of the server, it'll be easier for you. When a server begins everyone starts off at the same point, and nobody has army's and nobody will actually destroy your villages, they'll try to steel resources but if you read my other hub about travian I can help you with that.

So enjoy yourself and remember it's a year or so of travian before it ends, and you should be on everyday, it's tough but I think you'll get addicted.
